The United States is progressively regulating the crypto sphere. However, there seems to be some split in approach to cryptocurrency. On a federal level, there is a large amount of crypto regulation from various bodies, meaning lots of overlapping jurisdictions and different opinions on crypto. Although U.S. crypto banking seems undeveloped, it is making slow progress. A large crypto exchange, Kraken, stated that it became the first U.S. digital asset company with a bank charter, recognized under both federal and state law, in 2020.
